The Facts

The cost of sending one child to summer camp in Champaign-Urbana for two weeks is approximately $180. Only a small number of scholarships, usually up to a maximum of $90, are available to only the most under privileged children in our community.In this scenario, parents of these children would be required to cover the remaining 90 dollars, a difficult task for these people. Our community simply does not have enough money to give every child the opportunity to experience summer camp.

Before ISOO, hundreds of families in need applied for summer camp scholarships. However, due to diminished scholarship funding, hundreds of children were unable to attend summer camp. Since 2007 the ISOO has raised over $100,000 and provided hundreds of children with a fully paid summer camp scholarship!
