- The best offers to families generally did not exceed 50% of full cost & many of these scholarships were not accepted
- Typical scholarships were 25% or 33% of full cost, depending on the income of the child's parents
After ISOO:
CHAMPAIGN, ILLINOIS
- Champaign Park District awarded 144 summer camp scholarships to underprivileged children
- This was nearly double the amount of scholarships distributed in 2007
- 25% of these scholarships were full grants awarded to families whose income fell below the USDA Free and Reduced Lunch Program ($20,650 for a family of four)
URBANA, ILLINOIS
- Urbana Park District fulfilled 80 scholarship requests
- Many families who requested scholarships had an aggregate family income below the USDA Free and Reduced Lunch Program
- All 80 qualifying children who requested scholarships were able to attend camp completely free of cost
