About us
The Illini Summer Opportunity Organization is a student run-organization with the goal of giving every child in the Champaign and Urbana communities the opportunity to attend summer camp. The ISOO was founded in 2007 in response to the underprivileged population in the local community. Since that time, we have raised over $80,000 and sent hundreds of kids to summer camp. The ISOO’s main charitable event, a Rock, Paper, Scissors tournament is held every October on the south quad of the U of I campus. In 2009, over 2000 participants registered for the event. With the support of local businesses, alumni, and students the ISOO is changing the community…one child at a time.
According to Natalie Davis, former Director of Registered Student Organizations at the University of Illinois, in 2007 ISOO recorded the second largest revenue for a RSO. Since 2007, over 5600 people have donated to ISOO and we have been growing ever since.
